Firedancer charges admission to the bug hunt. The robots brought duplicates.

Current trend: Firedancer's bounty terms, effective 26 October, require a non-refundable 1 SOL burn per submission. Jump Crypto's earlier review describes a surge in AI-assisted security reports and the human work needed to check them. This is a reporting-policy story, not a newly disclosed exploit.
Firedancer is an independently developed validator client for Solana. In its 16 October review, Jump described an audit contest that received 809 reports from 162 researchers and yielded 127 unique, non-insight security submissions. The team believes nearly every entry was discovered or written with an agent; that is its assessment, rather than a verified count of AI authors. The contest itself ran earlier in the year.
The difficult part was separating a real, reproducible weakness from a duplicate or an alarming claim that overlooked protections elsewhere. Jump says its new platform limits each report section to 3,000 characters and requires a SOL burn. The current terms make that payment non-refundable even for invalid, duplicate or out-of-scope submissions. Eligible rewards are temporarily doubled through 20 November, or tripled for Alpenglow-specific findings.
A price at the entrance may discourage speculative submissions, but it also makes reporting costly for a researcher who is wrong in good faith. The policy should be judged by the useful findings it produces and the review effort it saves. More generated reports, by themselves, measure neither security nor progress.
I've been catching bugs for years. Apparently I now need to burn a coin before anyone will look at one. Fair enough, but the robot behind me has brought the same beetle nineteen times.
