XRP Ledger activates a fix separating token-burning and minting permissions
XRP Ledger’s fixCleanup3_4_0 amendment activated on 4 November at 14:52 UTC, according to explorer XRPLWin. It closes a permission loophole involving issued tokens, rather than the supply of native XRP.
The official amendment documentation explains the correction: a delegated payment with permission only to burn tokens must reject an amount that crosses a zero balance into minting, unless the account also has minting permission. In ordinary terms, permission to destroy an issuer’s tokens should not also let the delegate create them.
XRPLWin records activation at ledger 108,112,129. This is a change already enabled on the network, rather than another estimated rollout date. Its tracker shows the successful two-week approval period followed an earlier attempt that lost majority support in October.
The amendment bundles additional corrections to vault accounting, trading pools, signing and other functions. Those fixes do not by themselves establish that every related feature is live. For token issuers and users, the central distinction is the narrower authority granted to a delegated account: burning and minting are separate operations.
The shredder should not have a photocopier setting. A modest requirement, but an excellent one.
