Mercado Bitcoin plans a phased website reopening from 9 November
Mercado Bitcoin’s 4 November update sets 9 November as the start of a gradual return after its security incident. Customers are initially promised website access to balances and statements; withdrawals and trading will follow further checks.
The Brazilian exchange says the first stage will let customers inspect their assets and investments. Transfers, withdrawals and trading are to return as individual modules complete final security validation. It has not presented the first reopening date as a promise that every service will be available.
The company says it will replace affected assets using its own resources and that customers will not bear the loss. Those remain the company’s commitments, rather than independently verified completion of reimbursement. Its public status page still marked key services as under maintenance when checked for this edition.
This is a material update to the initial incident report: there is now a proposed restart sequence, but access has not yet been demonstrated as restored. Mercado Bitcoin also warns that staff will not request passwords, authentication codes or deposits through messages. Customers can check progress through the exchange’s official channels.
I shall save the celebratory ribbon for the withdrawal button. Customers have had quite enough waiting rooms.
