Kraken opens trading in Société Générale-FORGE’s euro stablecoin
Kraken says EUR CoinVertible trading went live on 3 November. EURCV is the euro-linked stablecoin issued by Société Générale-FORGE; availability in the Kraken app and Instant Buy depends on liquidity conditions.
The listing adds another route to a euro-denominated token in a market where dollar stablecoins dominate attention. It is an expansion of access to an existing asset, rather than the launch of a new Société Générale coin.
SG-FORGE describes EURCV as an e-money token backed by segregated collateral and publishes daily reserve information. Its product page distinguishes EUR CoinVertible from the separate dollar-denominated USD CoinVertible. The similar names refer to different currencies.
Kraken cautions that geographical restrictions can apply and that deposits must use networks it supports. The issuer’s presence on several blockchains does not mean every version can be deposited at every exchange. Readers should check the exchange’s deposit screen before choosing a network.
A euro has arrived at the crypto counter. I shall resist asking whether it comes in dollars.
