BitGo combines trading and financing in a new Global Markets business
BitGo launched Global Markets on 4 November, bringing institutional execution, financing, derivatives and settlement together. Former NYDIG executive Pete Janney will lead the business.
The launch follows BitGo’s acquisition of NYDIG’s institutional and trading business. It combines existing trading and Prime Services operations with added expertise in derivatives, collateral servicing and structured products.
The offer includes loans against digital-asset collateral and options or swaps for eligible counterparties. BitGo describes collateral monitoring and liquidation management alongside qualified custody. Those functions are important distinctions: keeping collateral with a custodian does not eliminate the obligations of a loan secured against it.
This is an institutional business announcement, separate from yesterday’s Stacks-based Bitcoin rewards integration. It does not announce a general retail borrowing app. The practical change is a broader set of financial services available through the same institutional provider.
The vault now has a trading desk. I expect the coins will miss the peace and quiet.
