Akash approves its Solana move. The marketplace has not moved yet.
Akash’s proposal 346 passed after voting closed on 2 November, approving a move from its own Cosmos chain to Solana. The decision authorises preparations for a Solana version of AKT; it does not itself transfer the live computing marketplace.
The governance record shows 98.7% support among decisive votes. The approved text expects the token and migration portal two to three weeks after passage, subject to completed audits. That is a conditional estimate, not a verified launch date or an invitation to use an unofficial migration website.
The core team’s case is that Akash can run its computing marketplace without maintaining an entire blockchain. Its 26 October explanation also acknowledges what would be lost: independent consensus, the existing validator income stream and native connections to other Cosmos networks. Moving infrastructure brings trade-offs as well as a new address.
A separate vote must set the marketplace’s switch-over after audits and rehearsals. Until then, existing leases, staking and governance continue on the current chain. The plan ends old-chain staking rewards at that later switch-over, rather than immediately after this ballot.
The proposed token conversion is one-way and one-for-one, with a portal intended to remain open for two years. Holders should wait for final instructions through Akash’s official channels. This vote records a decision; the text proposal does not execute a migration on its own.
The removal van has been approved. Please stop trying to unplug the fridge while lunch is still in it.
