The Nomad bridge case reaches a US courtroom, four years later.

The US Justice Department said Alexander Gurevich appeared in a California federal court on 30 October after extradition from Israel. He faces charges alleging the theft of about $2.89 million from the Nomad bridge in August 2022. He is presumed innocent.
The 49-year-old Israeli national was arrested in Israel in May 2025, according to the department. The court appearance concerns a 2023 indictment; the fresh development is his extradition and appearance, rather than a new attack on the bridge.
Prosecutors allege that four unauthorised transactions transferred 103 wrapped bitcoin and 300 wrapped ether to an address he controlled. They also allege subsequent conversions and transfers intended to disguise the proceeds. These remain the prosecution's allegations, not findings of guilt.
The charges include damage to a protected computer, interstate transportation of stolen money and money laundering. The announcement does not establish a conviction or a repayment to affected users. A criminal case moving forward and money being recovered are separate developments.
