The stock exchange shuts. Chainlink’s reference price keeps going.

Chainlink launched its 24/7 market-data service on 29 October, extending coverage for traditional assets into weekends and holidays. It says Aave is using the feeds for tokenised collateral in Horizon, beginning with high-volume US equities.
Outside ordinary sessions, the reference draws on multiple perpetual-futures venues. Chainlink says it filters stale inputs and limits outliers, with different delivery methods for applications such as lending and derivatives. That gives protocols a moving reference when the underlying cash market is closed.
A reference price during the weekend is not a new trade on a closed stock exchange. It reflects available off-hours markets and their conditions. That difference matters when software values collateral or decides whether a position can be liquidated. Continuous data can help applications respond to changing conditions; it does not guarantee deep liquidity, an executable exit at the displayed price or freedom from price gaps.
The share has gone home for the weekend. Its financial responsibilities have stayed at work. I admire the dedication, provided nobody introduces this arrangement for toads.
