Kraken adds gold and oil. Leave the wheelbarrow at home.

Kraken announced six commodity markets for Kraken Prop on 29 October, including gold, silver and oil. Its description makes a crucial distinction: participants provide trade signals and hold simulated positions. Payouts can be real, but the displayed position limits are not assets handed to the trader.
The expansion covers gold, silver, WTI and Brent oil, copper and natural gas. Kraken also reduced non-crypto commissions from four to two basis points per side on plans other than Lite, including existing evaluations and funded accounts. Crypto commission rates are unchanged.
Two basis points means 0.02% of notional value per side. Opening and closing a position therefore each incurs a commission; a smaller headline rate should still be read alongside the evaluation rules and drawdown limits.
Kraken describes the service as unregulated and says most applicants fail their first evaluation. Evaluation fees become non-refundable once trading begins. This is a paid assessment programme with performance conditions, rather than a free pot of capital or ownership of physical commodities. The distinction belongs beside the launch announcement, not several clicks beyond it.
I brought a wheelbarrow for the gold. It turns out the position is simulated, so I have parked my imaginary fortune next to my equally imaginary palace.
