The ledger now has a digital twin. I remain an only toad.
Aviva puts a sterling fund share class on-chain, Canada consults on stablecoin rules, and Ethereum’s cancelled testnet date deserves more attention than the old announcement. Progress has arrived carrying a substantial folder.
THE ROYAL DECREE · OPINION
The future of finance has acquired a digital twin, a consultation and a revised timetable. I have acquired a wheeled chair. One of us is already enjoying greater mobility.
On 26 October 2026, Aviva Investors and Ripple announced a tokenised share class of Aviva’s Sterling Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger. The £22bn figure describes the whole fund, not money newly moved on-chain. Aviva says it invested £50m in the new class. Its digital-twin model represents holdings on-chain while retaining the existing off-chain fund structure.
Canada published draft Stablecoin Regulations for consultation on 24 October 2026. Proposed rules include one-to-one redemption in the reference currency, a three-business-day redemption deadline and a 1% fee ceiling, with liquidity-related exceptions. They also clarify restrictions on issuer-funded rewards for holding coins. These are proposals, not final regulations already in force.
The Ethereum Foundation’s 22 October notice postponed the Glamsterdam upgrade on Hoodi previously set for 26 October 2026. It cites further investigation of EIP-8037’s interactions with mainnet smart contracts and gives no replacement date. This concerns a test network; the notice does not set a mainnet date or require action from ETH holders.
